In the event of converting or extending a hall, the building owner may want to add a second or third crane to an existing crane runway. Since the original design usually does not consider other cranes, a common solution is to design a minimum distance between the cranes. This is done via the crane technology settings.
The load generators in RFEM and RSTAB, used to convert area loads to member loads automatically, require cells that are almost even. In the case of arc‑like structures, the cells often cannot be recognized automatically.
With the "Convert Area Loads on Openings to Line Loads" function, you can automatically take into account, for example, wind loads applied on windows or other loads applied on non‑bearing structures not represented in the model in openings. You can access this function via "Tools" → "Generate Loads" → "From Area Loads on Openings...."
In RFEM and RSTAB, you can use many interfaces to simplify the modeling of your structure. From background layers, to the import of IFC objects that can be converted into members or surfaces, to the import of the entire structural system from Revit or Tekla. Regardless of the performance of the selected interface, further utilization also depends on the accuracy of the imported data.
If intersections created in RFEM 4 are opened in an RFEM 5 file, the file management of intersections remains in the old format for compatibility reasons. Thus, the individual partial surfaces of the intersection can be activated or deactivated using only the "Integrated/Components" tab, all partial surfaces can only have the same thickness, and it is impossible to use the separate FE mesh refinement for the individual surface components.
RFEM and RSTAB provide numerous interfaces with other programs for data exchange. In the respective programs, different names are often used for the same materials and cross-sections. Therefore, it is necessary to convert the material and cross‑section names in order for them to be recognized by the program after the data exchange.
When modeling a load in RFEM, line loads on surfaces are used very often. This may be a line load directly related to a particular load, or a free line load entered at the start and end coordinates.
